Who am I?

My name is Fili Dianellou (she/her), and I was born and raised in Greece. Since 2019, I have been working as a therapist in the Netherlands and am currently based in Amsterdam.

I obtained my bachelor’s degree from Aristotle University in Greece. Later, I completed my master’s in clinical psychology at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. In 2019, I discovered the Gestalt therapeutic approach, which deeply intrigued me. Since then, I've been on a journey to qualify as an accredited Gestalt psychotherapist. What drew me to Gestalt therapy is its unwavering belief in people's capacity to create or reclaim meaningful lives.

I am captivated by how people can tap into their creativity once they feel a sense of safety. I am genuinely eager to help individuals become more attuned to their needs. Witnessing people grow through novel ways of relating to themselves and others is enchanting to me. Additionally, I am deeply moved by the expressiveness of the human body and its indispensable role in therapy.

I have experience working with expats from various nationalities and multi-ethnic (refugee) groups, which has nurtured my fascination with the interplay between culture and psychological adjustment.

I've had the privilege of working at Leiden University in a teaching position and at Amsterdam University College as a Student Life Officer. However, psychotherapeutic work is my true passion.

What I adore about my profession is the diverse range of encounters and the boundless possibilities that emerge when individuals connect.

Over the past decade, I've devoted a significant part of my life to my own personal growth. I've delved deep into understanding my own context and eagerly explored new dimensions of being. I understand that this journey can be filled with both frustrations and victories, and I believe that both are better experienced in the presence of a caring, open, and non-judgmental listener.
